Imagine walking up to a 1906 building with tall columns and arched windows in the heart of Winston-Salem. You enter the building the find beautiful high ceilings, a large lobby space and a wall that distinguishes the historic building as an old post office. And you notice all this old-time style in just the first few minutes of entering the Millennium Center, a renovated space that became a full service wedding venue in 1994.
Elise & Tom were married at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church on Sept 15, 2018 and enjoyed their reception at the Millennium Center. With Hurricane Florence sweeping through North Carolina after making landfall the day before, the couple was nervous about their wedding day but found themselves blessed with a mildly rainy day. About 30 of their 150 guests were sadly unable to make the wedding, including the Maid of Honor, but Tom & Elise were absolute troopers about making the most of their day, and they had a blast with all the family and friends who were able to attend.
One of the most notable details that the couple set up for their wedding day was an incredible memory table. While many couples create a memorial table with a few photos of loved ones lost and candles (we love this tradition!), Tom, Elise and their parents took this a step further by creating a family weddings history table. They gathered up wedding photos through the ages, as well as some priceless memorabilia to showcase for their guests. Some of the items included a photo from 1904, a pair of wedding shoes from 1915 and a pearl tiara!
