Today I get to watch my darling friend Kayla walk down the aisle to meet the love of her life, Jose, at the altar. The two met while Kayla was still in high school, and after 6 or so years of learning about life, growing up and discovering who they are, they managed to grow stronger together with every turn. After knowing Jose for 12 years and Kayla for 4, to see the people they have become and the ways they make each other better every day confirms my belief that this is a couple built to last, and I feel so honored to be able to share in their special day, to watch as they step into this new chapter together.
I also had the opportunity to plan and participate in Kayla's bachelorette party on Memorial Day weekend. Looking for the chance to get away from Raleigh and all the stress of wedding planning, we headed down to Charlotte for three days of fun. Kayla's mom, Brandy, and friend, Jenny, were a part of the planning process, and much of the weekend was amazing thanks to their endeavors. The three of us met in Charlotte early on Friday to set up for the weekend before the rest of the girls arrived, and we decked out the hotel room with twinkle lights, flowers and books. When the bride and other guests arrived, we met them in the hotel bar for complementary drinks and then headed to the suite, where the girls were greeted by a magically lit room.
The next few hours were spent settling into the hotel room, eating sushi, opening gifts, making drinks at our bar set-up and getting ready to go out. Once everyone was ready, we grabbed an Uber and headed to the Epicenter, where we enjoyed the live music at Howl at the Moon and packed dance floor at Whiskey River. Our night ended with greasy pizza and a very happy bride-to-be.
Saturday took a more relaxing turn, as we hopped in a limo around noon and headed toward the NC mountains to enjoy a wine tasting at Baker Vineyard in Buffalo Creek. Once back at the hotel, we had the luxury of enjoying a mobile spa in our suite. All the girls received mani-pedis, while Kayla and her mom were also treated to 30 minute massages. The evening was complete after dinner out for ramen bowls, and the next morning included brunch and farewells.
"Stephanie did such an amazing job planning my bachelorette weekend to Charlotte, NC! When I arrived at the hotel, (which was amazing), my girls and I were greeted with a huge array of sushi, top shelf liquor and ADORABLE gift bags. She decorated our suite with homemade paper flowers (which are still sitting in a vase on my kitchen table), books (because I was an English major) and wine bottles! She took all of my likes and loves into consideration when planning this wonderful weekend. We went out to some amazing night clubs in Charlotte, went to a wine tasting, and had a mobile spa visit our hotel room! Stephanie did an excellent job working with my mother and bridesmaids to keep a budget in mind for the weekend and helped us to maximize every second! I would recommend her in a heart-beat!" - Kayla
