Trending for 2018

Updated: Jan 1, 2019

When it comes to planning the special details of your wedding day, most brides can fit in one of the three boxes: the bride who loves keeping up with the trends; the bride who avoids trends so her wedding stands out; and the bride who likes what she likes, regardless of trends. And every year, the experts in the wedding industry declare so many new trends to keep up with (or avoid) that we can get dizzy in the process. To keep things simple, we’ve put together our short list of our favorite trends for décor and details.

Pantone may have declared Ultra Violet the color of the year, but when it comes to weddings in 2018, navy is the color of choice. We love how this dark blue makes everything look more elegant. From tuxes and bridesmaid dresses to invitation suites and accents, it’s easy to see why couples choose this classic color.

While semi-formal weddings have been popular in past years, couples are choosing to go for more formal weddings in 2018. Keep an eye out for elegant venues, classic attire and silver accents.

Hanging Flowers

Hanging flowers are sure to make your reception décor pop, and the designs fill your space in a way that traditional table décor can’t reach. Keep an eye out for florists who are ready to bring these gorgeous designs to life.

Creative Desserts

Wedding cakes will likely never go away altogether, but the dessert bars are becoming increasingly more popular. Consider donuts, ice cream sandwiches and macaroons when you plan your sweets.

Food and Drinks

The food game right now is all about creating a balance of healthy and delicious. This extends to appetizer stations and drinks, where Mocktails are popular menu choices at the bar for the non-drinkers.

First Dance

I imagine you already have this song on your must play list – but “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran is melting hearts and being played at every wedding in 2018.

Because who wants the fun to stop! For some couples, this will mean having the venue stay open later, bringing in a food truck and keeping guests on their feet. For others, a separate location keeps guests engaged and ready to party all night long.
